Laughter.

Laughter is common grace, isn’t it?  I’ve been thanking God for this gift lately, especially with a toddler in tow.

Like when Cub asks for a napkin with tremendous agitation — and I laugh because the amount of agitation over a napkin is ridiculous.  And he laughs in return.

Or when JE can’t hold in a laugh when I’m being incredibly stern with Cub about finishing his milk — and Cub is genuinely baffled by my request — because his cup is full of water, not milk.  “It’s water?”

Thank God we can laugh at our blunders.  Thank God we can lighten a tense moment with laughter, backtrack on mistakes, and embrace each other’s  humanness in this way — because when all is said and done, we aren’t Him.
